Here are two podcasts in French, given to the Eastern Orthodox site based in France “orthodoxie.com”.
The first one has been realized by the RCF.FR French inter-city radio station journalist Pascal Maguesyan. To my knowledge, very few local clergymen of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem has been interviewed by the Western media. The Russian media took another position and, as readily noticed, there were no Eastern Orthodox representatives of the major and classically present in Jerusalem Churches (Russian, Romanian, Serbian, Georgian, i.a.) with the exception of the members of the Ecumenical Patriarch’s suite some of them being American along with European hierarchs usually specialized in the relationships between Orthodoxy and Catholicism.
This second interview has been given only two days ago as to give a short point of view on the event that happened at the Holy Sepulcher for the 50th anniversary of the encounter between Pope Paul VI and Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras in 1964, at Jerusalem, one year before the end of the Second Council of Vatican.
This happened in a totally different context and by the invitation of Patriarch Bartholomaios of Constantinople addressed to Pope Francis. Nonetheless, it should be noted that the host evidently has been Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, the head of the the traditional Orthodox Church in Jerusalem, Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Jordan.
It should also be mentioned that the visit of the Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros al-Rahi, the first Maronite head of this local Church who came to visit – accompanying the Pope in his journey – and making a full visit of his parishioners in the Holy Land. First time in 66 years, which drove crowds of faithful to the Maronite churches and communities and free access to Jaffa Gate where the St. Maroun Convent of the Maronites is localted and to Beit Sahour and other locations in Galilee.
